Terry Munroe has been the thorn on a long stem rose of the IHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car class.  For the
past several years Munroe and his now dubbed ‘Band of Misfits’, have been playing the spoiler for every
well backed, sponsored opponent.  As an independent team the Munroe Racing has done what no other
thought could be possible, survive.

Munroe and his ‘Misfits’ have taken a new approach to competing in the 2005 season.  According to Terry
the 2005 season will be an all out attempt to finish in the top 5 of the class.  This past weekend in San
Antonio, Texas, Munroe held true to his words and simply let it all hang out.

After round 1 on Friday’s qualifying, Munroe turned in a 6.127 ET at 218.76 mph. that run set him in the
Number 4 qualifying position.  Turning thing up a notch in the second round, (and getting to shift into 2nd
gear), something that didn’t occur in the first round, placed him again in the top five.  His pass of 5.962 ET
at 239.61 mph was just enough to keep his Band of Misfits grinning from ear to ear.  Not too mention in the
money.

Munroe hadn’t even had a chance to take his car out test on the off season, as the weather never gave him
a chance to get it out of the garage, but several new improvements were add to the motor.

“Not too bad, not to bad at all,” said Munroe.  “I was just happy to get a chance to get it into second gear!”

Munroe and his Misfits had only two runs under their belts before having to take on Terry McMillen and his
Torco Racing Fuel ‘Instigator’.  With the stage set, Munroe gave the okay to step up the car another notch,
but the outcome would prove to be too much, too soon for the team.  Munroe suffered a nasty tire shake at
the start and with an opponent as good as McMillen, making up the difference just was not going to happen.

Terry Munroe and his ‘Misfits’ were still overly happy with their performance throughout the weekend event.
One thing that holds true is the ‘Law’ of the Gator’s teeth.  Every losing competitor, that falls to McMillen is
asked to sign one of the teeth that shows boldly on the car ‘Instigator”. If you don’t sign it…we’ll print it on
for you,” said McMillen.   Munroe did his part by offering his name to the new season, then offered the
teams new battle cry…  The Gator’s Gotta Die In 2005 !!

Terry Munroe and his band of Misfits will take the long ride home, but have already made plans for
attending the next Hooters IHRA Drag Racing National Event in Rockingham, North Carolina on the 22nd
thru the 24th of April 2005.
